This site asks before running any analytics, uses no advertising and no cross-site tracking, and keeps only what you choose to send us.

Who we are

This website is run by the Shiva Skanda Vel Charitable Trust, Chinnadurai Nagar, Adi Annamalai Village, Thiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu, India 606 604 (Reg. No. 95/2025). You can reach us at office@shivaskandavel.org.

What we collect

If you write to us by email or through the contact form, we receive what you send: your name, email address, message, and a phone number if you choose to include one. Submissions from the contact form pass through a small program of our own on Cloudflare, which keeps no copy of them, and are emailed to us by Resend, our email provider, acting on our behalf. Resend may also send you an automatic acknowledgement quoting your message, so that you have a record of what you wrote. We use this information only to reply to you and to handle your enquiry. We do not share it with anyone else, and we do not use it for marketing.

Analytics

With your permission, we use Google Analytics to see which pages are visited and roughly how many people visit. It runs only if you accept the choice offered when you first visit; if you decline, or simply ignore it, no analytics runs and no analytics cookies are set. If you accept, Google Analytics sets cookies (named _ga and similar) to tell one visit from another, and page-view figures are processed for us by Google. We do not use it for advertising, and Google's advertising and cross-device features are switched off. You can change your choice here at any time — declining also removes the analytics cookies.

Separately, Cloudflare, which serves this website, shows us aggregate traffic figures collected without cookies and without identifying you.

Cookies

This site sets analytics cookies only if you accept them (see Analytics above). YouTube may set cookies only if you choose to play an embedded video on the story or project pages, and Google may set cookies through the map embedded on the contact page (see below).

Embedded content

The story and project pages each include a video embedded from YouTube in its privacy-enhanced mode. YouTube loads content, and may set cookies, only if you choose to play the video. The contact page includes a map embedded from Google Maps; the map loads from Google when the page is viewed, and Google may set cookies and receive your IP address as part of serving it. The site's typefaces are served by Adobe Fonts, which does not set cookies for this purpose.

The contact page uses Cloudflare Turnstile, a spam check that confirms you are a person rather than an automated program. It usually requires nothing from you. It does not track you across other websites and is not used for advertising.

Your choices

If you would like to know what correspondence we hold from you, or want it corrected or deleted, write to office@shivaskandavel.org and we will take care of it.
